How can we help?

Coaching Students as a Facilitator

There are many tools built into the dashboard which can help teachers 'coach' students to write more genuine thx notes.

In order to access the suggested data dashboards described below first log in and navigate to the Facilitator Dashboard.

Below are a few ways to use data in order to encourage students to improve their thx notes.

First, click on 'Thx Notes' to coach individuals and groups on the content of their messages with comments and discussions. Students will need guidance to be specific and share their feelings.

While here, comments can be inserted to reinforce strong thx notes and to guide students who need more support.

**Tip: To help students strengthen their thx notes, focus on having them write why they are thankful to the recipient and how they felt. Students will often be non-specific about the benefit they received from a person and will require guidance to express the impact the benefit had on them with respect to their feelings. Sentence starters can help - i.e. “Thank you for ____. It made me feel ____.”

Next, click on 'Dashboard' to view the class’ collective data.

Teachers use this to help students make meaning from group data in addition to their personal data. They also use it to monitor and highlight specific behaviors and character traits the class and/or school may be working on and looking to generate evidence for.

Afterwards, click on 'Tasks' to create, assign, and review reflections.

Teachers use this to help students practice general gratitude and to make meaning from their data and artifacts. They facilitate specific research-based practices for giving and receiving from the GiveThx curriculum.
